Every cloud has a silver lining

My Friday started out really crappy. For some reason, my mom and I left the house later than we regularly do, so that meant I had to drive like a maniac through rush hour. As I had plans after work, I had to drop my mom off and find a parkining space near my office instead of having her park it for free at her office. Unfortunately, my usual parking haunt was full (it being friday so a lot of people brought their cars for their gimmicks after work) and seeing that is was almost 8 am, I had no choice but to park at the Dela Rosa car park (which meant that I'd be paying more than a hundred bucks). And as luck would have it, as I was rolling up my window after getting the ticket, I heard a crack and saw that there was something wrong with the mechanism on the window and now it would not go up. I had to stuff the sidings with paper just so that the window would not go down while it was parked. What a morning huh?

Anyway, I was stuck in a meeting the entire day. When I realized that it was already past 5 pm, i had to plead with my boss to let me go. I tolf her that I had an appointment after work and I was already late for it. She reluctantly let me go and I rushed to change clothes. Ia, was already waiting for me in the office. Katie, Patty, Tina, and Marie were gonna meet up with us at Starbucks. Of course, I already expected that my window would already be rolled down and that I would be paying more than a hundred bucks for the parking and that there would be traffic. Around 6 PM, we all finally managed to cram ourselves into the car and head of to the Double S restaurant. I was telling everyone of how crappy my day was when lo and behold, it starts to rain. Needless to say my left arm was wet for the entire duration of the trip. But I guess I must have done something right because there was only 1 parking slot left at the restaurant and it was right in front of the main door. At least the guard could really earn his keep by guarding my car. Katie gave me the stuff I ordered and some other pasalubongs. I couldn't really browse through em coz I was sooooo hungry Anyway, we had a great dinner. We had Beef kalbi (when I actually ordered Pork), Tofu soup (Patty and I ordered another 1 coz it was so good), Chapjae, and the various side dishes.

Unfortunately, Katie had to go meet other people that night and Ia had to go to work, so only Tina, Patty, Marie and I headed off to norebang. Luckilly, I got a parking slot by the door of Joo Sarang so I wan't too nervous with my broken window. The four of us agreed to stay for just an hour (limited funds and all) but we managed to sing Superstar by Jewelry, hey Dude by Shinhwa, Hotmail by SM Town and whole bunch of TVXQ and Fly to the Sky Songs in honor of Tina and Patty's first time in an authentic norebang.

The hour flew by so quickly and after dropping off Patty and Tina, Marie and I headed off to Starbucks for a nightcap. After flipping through the magazine I got from Katie, I dropped marie off and headed home.

I excitedly showed Ela (my other sister) my Shinhwa haul (and the HOT dvd) Katie gave me.

Kyochon chicken paper bag, Shinhwa Summer Concert poster, Shinhwa coke can & keychain, Summer Story CD & beach ball, Junior Magazine, Shinhwa Everlasting Mythology DVD

Needless to say the pasalubong was worth the badluck I encountered that day.

Gluttony.... what a sin

Last Saturday, I celebrated my birthday with my sisters and some of my friends. And since it was the start of Chuseok as well, we planned on just eating out, since everyone was low on funds. Even though we all really wanted to go to Jo Sarang, hehe, our wallets wouldn't let us. Luckilly, Angie said that Kuya would foot the bill for norebang. Woohoo!! Unfortunately, they had to leave early as they had just opened My Room 2 in Greenhills the very same day, so they wanted to go do the norebang first. After eating Korean ricecakes that Tina gave us, Kuya, Angie, Marie, me and my sisters headed on off to Jo Sarang, while Tina waited for Binnie to come back from an errand . Anyway, we quickly got the ball rolling and everyone was able to get a go at the microphones.

Unfortunately, Angie & Kuya had to leave so the rest of us went off for dinner and I must say I loved the tofu soup!!!! It was just soooooo good!! Tina and Cherry, you guys hafta try it!!

For a more detailed account of what happened that day, visit Marie's blog.

The following day, which was my birthday, my family and i went to Dampa in ParaƱaque and feasted on my favorite food: Shrimps (sinigang, halabos & in garlic butter) Oysters, baked tahong, inihaw na liempo at pusit and seaweed. I practically had to waddle across the highway to get back to the car. I was so full!! thank goodness my birthday comes only once a year. I don't think my clothes could take it.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who greeted me during my birthday, and the day before that and the day after that. And thanks to Tina/Binnie, Angie & Kuya, Marie and Ia for the gifts.

Bridget Jones'.......... sister?

Last Friday, I went to Healthway Clinic to visit the dermatologist. Anyway, I decided to get treated that day so the doctor dabbed topical anesthesia all over my face and put clear scotch tape on em. Needless to say, I looked like a freak of nature. Sorta like a cross between Madam Auring and a burn victim. You wouldn't know wether to laugh or cry if you saw me. It was like toothpaste under clear plastic all over my face. I couldn't look at the mirror coz I would laught at how i looked and i couldn't because I couldn't even smile coz the tape around my mouth made it difficult and I couldn't blink because the tape would come in contact with my eyes and that would cause me to blink more. Let's say it was a very uncomfortable situation for me. To make matters worse, the doctor told me to go to the waiting room while the medicine..... i don't know.... um..... baked(?). I could not believe my ears! Wait..... outside...... with all the other patients of the other doctors? Was she serious? When she explained that the office was too small to accomodate me and another patient, the gravity of the situation hit me. I had to sit next to people who would be staring at my face wondering what the heck happened to me!! Worst of all, there were kids there!! I would either make em cry or they'd ask obnoxious questions to their parents. Grrrrrrrr!!! I asked my doctor to please, please not shout out my name if it was my turn, so that just in case i managed to find the guts to sit in the waiting room, with people oggling at me, they at least wouldn't know my name. But when I went out of her office, I just couldn't bear to go to the friggin waiting room. So I literally waited outside the doctor's door for a nurse to pass by. The minute one did, I grabbed her arm and pleaded with her to stash me somewhere, anywhere, that wasn't the waiting room. The nurse, who has probably seen a lot of patients under the same predicament I was in, took pity on me and hid me in the admin office, where I kept the admin staff company.

Anyway, after an hour, I heard my doctor asking nurses if they had seen me. Well, the nurses didn't know my name so they couldn't tell her I was in hiding. My doctor, who knew that I didn't want to stay in the waiting room looking like, well what i looked with the tape, feared that i might be in the restroom (no way! it was on the other side of the floor, meaning more people would see me), or that i went home (looking like that? no way!). So she started calling out my friggin' name!! Grrrrrrrr!!!!!
Anyway, I managed to call her while keeping my head down and made a beeline for her office where she did her thing. After like an hour and half, I was able to go back to the office, minus the white stuff and tape. Thank God!!

Despite the embarassment, I couldn't help but laugh at what happened. I told my officemate about it and he could only say that these sort of things always happened to me. I asked "what things?" and he said my "ala Bridget Jones escapades":

1. last month, the slit of my skirt went from teacher to long gown competition in 5 seconds after I tried getting into the driver seat while making sure that my door did not hit the car next to my van. I had to drive all the way to my sister's gym with my bag on my lap, lest a truck pulls up next to me and gets a free show. After parking, I had to hold my skirt together and walk really quick to the nearest bathroom. Thank god I had a sewing kit.

2. the time I slipped on a puddle of water and scraped my knee at the Market! Market! parking lot while wearing a skirt (thank god i fell knee first and not butt first). I didn't know if I should pretend like nothing happened, after all there were people parking their cars at that time, or hobble off to the safety of my car. I chose the latter and milked it for what it was worth.

3. the time I locked my keys in my car in Greenbelt and had to beg a security guard to jimmy the door open because I couldn't call my dad at 2:00 AM to tell him of the problem I was having. In the end it took like 3 seci\urity guards to open the friggin' door.

He actually enumerated a lot more incidents but I think they should just be left for us to know about. (^__^)

rambling........ part 2

The past couple of days for me have been pretty eventful. Last Friday, at around 11:00 PM, I rushed my nephew to the Emergency Room because of some symptoms we feared resembled dengue. After a couple of hours of observation and tests, we let out a sigh of relief when results showed that it wasn't dengue. We arrived at the house around 3 AM, Saturday. At 4:00 AM, our helper was waking me up to remind me that Kix had to be at the airport by 5:00 AM. Good thing I already showered and dressed before getting some shuteye so I just had to brush my teeth, wash my face, and comb my still damp hair. We arrive at the airport with 5 minutes to spare. Unfortunately, Kix' teammates were a bit late so I was able to leave the airport at around 7:30 AM. The minute my head hit the pillow, I was already asleep.

I woke up to the sound of a text message on my phone. I thought who the heck would be texting so early (I saw that it was still dark outside)? When I looked at my watch, I was surpised to see that it was already 5:00 PM! I had slept almost the entire day!! Sheesh! Anyway, my tummy reminded me that I hadn't eaten anything yet so I asked my sisters to go to Jin Go Gae with me because I was craving for Chapjae. Unfortunately, my nephew was still sick so Ela had to stay home. Ia and I ordered Chap Jae and Bul go gi and tofu soup. woohoo!!! Finally! my craving was satisfied.

Then, Marie texted me and asked where I was and I told her of my fixation for Chapjae. She suddenly said that she wanted to go out and that Tina would be joining us. Anyway, before we knew what was happening, Ia and I found ourselves in Joo Sarang, singing our hearts out with Marie, Tina and Binnie. Then we headed off to Starbucks for a "nightcap" and after an hour or so bid our goodbyes to each other. For a better account of that night, visit Marie's page.

Anyway, on Monday we got news from Kix that the Women's Artistic Gymnastics National Team won Silver in the Pestasukan competition. woohoo!!! Unfortunately, Ilai was again rushed to the hospital because rashes appeared on his body. The doctors wanted him to be confined so that they could run some more tests on him and so that he can remain on IV (he was dehydrated). So........ our emotions were in knots that day. Happy for Kix on one side, worried for Ilai on the other. Needless to say I slept fitfully that night.

The next day, Tuesday, was so hard for me as I couldn't keep my eyes open. I had to keep drinking water or walk around to stay awake. Luckilly, Kix texted me good news that woke me up. She won the Gold medal in both the floor exercise and the vault while she got the SIlver for the Bars event. Her other teammates, Tammy & Caissa won the gold in bars and bronze in vault. Not a bad haul considering that they just had a week of preparation for this competition since they just came back from a competiton in India, where they won the Gold medal for the team.

At least, this week will end on the right note. Ilai is already home from the hospital and Kix will be coming home today. I hope next week isn't as eventful. I don't think I could take it.
