Ga ga ga ga ga ga ga?

I was on Edison Chen mode last Saturday. I watched Initial D and Life Translated one after the other. Needless to say after that marathon I was a smiling wreck. (^_^) lol! Although I knew that Initial D was Jay Chou's debut movie, I was kinda hoping that Edison would still get quality camera time. Anyways, I didn't particularly like the story or the movie. The only saving grace that it had, for me, were Edison, Shawn Yue and Anthony Wong (My Infernal Affairs boys) being in it. hehe!! I have never watched the anime version so I can't say if it did the anime justice (but I'm guessing that it didn't) although I really hafta say that Edison, Shawn and Anthony's characters were really cool.

Right after Initial D, I saw that I still had some time to kill before going to Station 168, so I popped in Life Translated. As I was looking at the cover, I had the impression that the caucasians were just photoshopped into the picture. haha! I didn't know what to expect since I never heard of the movie before. I just saw Edison on the cover and decided to get it. Watching the movie was a struggle for me because I couldn't accept the fact that the actress in the lead looked a hell lot older than me but was playing the role of a high school kid, and had Edison Chen & a couple of guys thinking she was cute (which she definitely wasn't). Oh well!! If I had the money to finance my own movie I'd make Edison play the role of the guy who was head over heels with me too. Anyway, the good thing about the movie was that Edison had a lot of lines in English. Way more than his English lines in Infernal Affairs 2 and Twins Effect 1 combined. He does speak Chinese in the movie (I refuse to call it a film) although he sounds a lot better if he stuck to Cantoonese than his wonky sounding Mandarin.

After the movie, my sisters and I headed off to Station 168 for the small surprise party we and our friends (Marie & Tina) had planned for Angie. Since we were all low on funds, we decided to forego the gift and just buy BBQ from Aling Ineng's (yummy) and bring the chocolate cake I got my aunt to bake. We were kinda worried anout the fact that this was the only food we had for the "party" and were extremely relieved when Tina told us that she cooked chapjae.

When Angie arrived, she was surprised when we brought out the cake and kept mumbling that this wasn't what she had planned. She wanted to invite us all to go out and watch a movie but our little surprise foiled that.

After feasting on the food, we all (Me, Ela, Kix, Ilai, Marie, Angie, Tina, and Binnie) headed over to Starbucks in Rockwell (Ia had to go to another birthday party) and just kept up with our chatter of nonsense under the dripping umbrellas. We were cracking up with Filipino & Korean phrases that sounded silly to non Filipino and non Koreans. Like in Filipino there's "Bababa ka na ba?". Imagine making an entire sentence with just 3 syllables. Well, Binnie said that they have a weird sentence when he usus his dialect. The sentence goes "Ga ga ga ga ga ga ga?" It meant something to the effect like "Is the name of that guy Ga?" Anyway, we all thought it was funny and weird. So Kaka!

At 9:50, we bid each other goodbye and actually stayed at the curb for a good 10 minutes because everyone kept saying goodbye to everyone over and over again. lol!

Why I don't have money

I had a pretty hectic weekend. Last Saturday, I met up with Marie and Tina to to give Marie's former student Jasmine, and friend Isabel, a goodbye party since the former was flying back to Korea this week. Since we (Ia, Ela, Marie & Tina) were all norebang addicts, we jumped at the opportunity to have another go at Ju Sarang . When we arrived, we were dismayed to find out that all the rooms were occupied, thanks to all the Korean teens who were spending their free time (probably a break from all the English lessons they were having) at the norebang. The receptionist wasn't sure what time there would be a room available for us. We decided to just wait in the lobby rather than kill time elsewhere, then come back and have trouble finding parking again. We entertained ourselves by taking pictures of each other and by passing out the tatoos i made (which everyone liked, yipee!!).

Anyway, finally, we were able to get a room and we sang to our heart's content. Around 6:30 PM, we all called it quits since Jasmine and Isabel had to be home by 7:00 PM. Marie and I agreed to meet w/ Tina at Station 168 after I drop Ia off at the office and while Marie drops the girls off at Glorietta. The 4 of us (Me, Ela, Marie & Tina) end up having dinner again at Station 168 and stuffing our stomachs with mandoo, kimbap and ttobboki. We say our goodbyes at around 9 PM. For a more detailed account, check out Marie's page.

The next day, my sisters and I decide to pick up the DVDs I ordered, Moon Geun Young's Innocent Steps and Eric (& Lee Byung Hun)'s Bittersweet Life. Then I saw Initial D, Edison's latest movie with Jay Chou and another movie that had Edison in it but for the life of me I can't recall the title. Anyway, we get those as well and then we see the Kim San Soon series on DVD and decide to get that as well (woohoo!!! Hyun Bin!!).

Our DVD Haul

Neddless to say, our wallets were pretty tapped out. We bought gifts for Jasmin & her mom, then Norebang, then dinner, then DVD shopping. Sigh! payday is so far away!!!! (T-T)

Clutter

Darnit!! I was so annoyed last Friday. I found out that Sungie will be releasing a special version of his debut album. Why is it that these gasoos have to release a nicer version of their albums AFTER I have already bought the original versions? grrrrrrrrrr!!! FTTS did that with their Best album and now Shin Hye Sung is doing the same thing with his solo album!!!! It's just not friggin' fair!!!!

At least I had a great Sunday. It was Marie's birthday and she invited me & my sisters over for dinner. The food was wonderful!! I love seafood and everything (well except the noodles & dessert) was seafood!! There were 2 kinds of Sugpo, a Crab dish, and baked Tahong. And of course chapjae. Needless to say, I was in food heaven. hehe!! (^__^) And I wasn't the only one who thought the food was great. Even the other guests like Seo Na and her family, and Angie and kuya pigged out with us! aaahhhhhh!!!! I swear, if I wasn't going home I would have stayed at the table the entire night until everything was all gone. And the table was so cute because except for the noodles, the food was ORANGE!!! haha! there's no denying that Marie is a Shinhwa fan.

Sorry for the sloppy entry. My thoughts are kind of cluttered at the moment. anyway, Happy Birthday, Marie!!!!

Gasoo encounter of the third kind

sigh!! haven't updated my blog in a long while. didn't feel like there was something interesting to blog about. so i visit my friends' blogpage and when I saw Marie's page, i suddenly remembered that I haven't posted my 3rd Gasoo encounter last July 21. So here it goes:

I must say that I have been lucky with my gasoo encounters. My first "experience" (haha! the term!) was with Lee Jae Jin, a former Sechskies member, that for some reason, decided to visit the Philippines. I wasn't really a fan of Sechskies. I was more of an H.O.T. fan (their rival group) but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see him because I figured, it would be 1 notch off the entire "6 degrees of separation" theory to Shinhwa (Lee Jae Jin knew Kang Sung Hoon since they were both in Sechskies together and Kang Sung Hoon knew Shinhwa's Shin Hye Sung since they appeared on Xmen. Pathetic, right? haha!!). Luckilly, I had friends at ABS (Cherry & Patty), who were able to get us (Me, Ia, Marie & Kara) to meet him and have our photos taken when he guested on Fanatic. We (Me, marie & Eun Ji) even got to meet him at his hotel and he was very nice and obliging with our request for photos with him and giving us his autograph. Eun Ji was raving about how nice he was, which puzzled me coz i thought it wasn't that big a deal like having photos & giving out autographs. I mean what else would he do? We were just like 3 people who probably were at the hotel for him. But Eun Ji kept saying no and that he was SUPER nice. I thought maybe something got lost in the translation.

My 2nd gasoo encounter was with Mina. I watched a Korean Peace Wave concert with Ia & Marie, hoping to be able to see Jewelry, Diva, Maya, VOS, Mina etc. Unfortunately, it turned out that there would be a different set of gasoos that would perform during the dates. So we were sad to hear that Jewelry, Diva, Maya, VOS all performed the previous night (T-T). Our only chance was Mina, since she was the only one we were familiar with. Anyway, thanks to us charming some of the production people, we were able to get them to help us get pictures with her. It was so nice of her to stop and pose with us, even though her staff were rushing her to go backstage. So with Mina, my 6 degrees of separation became Mina then Shinhwa's Andy since they also appeared together on Xmen.

Ok so forward to July 21. I've been hearing news that Lee Dong Gun was coming over. Of course I had to see him. He was dating Han Ji Hye, who chose Minwoo on Love Letter (when Shinhwa guested on the show. She also worked with Shinhwa's Eric on a Ban Jun Drama. anyway, I was able to get marie to join me (again) and she got Tina and her boyfriend to meet her there (we thought we could use having a Korean on our side). Anyway, I rushed to the hotel after work and missed Tina, who had to go back to work. Marie filled me in on their meeting with Lee Dong Gun's Philippine promoter (the guy who acted as the middleman). Things did not look well. Apparently, the actor wasn't a "nice" person. But hey, we thought maybe he was biased or something. Anyway, by 7: 30 pm, we were able to see him twice: after his dinner and on his way to GMA in a white stretch limo. With all the fans chasing after him, it was kinda hard to jockey for a position so we just stared at him from afar. I saw my friend Renz at the hotel earlier and she told me that they were gonna go to GMA. So i texted her informing her that he was on his way there and that they should keep her eyes peeled. Marie & I decided to wait in the lobby since my friend, Eve, would be joining us. Around 8:30 PM, I received a text from Renz saying that he was on his way back!! Marie & I readied ourselves. Luckilly, most of the other fans went to GMA so we were like just 15 along the lobby. Thinking that he would stop and say hi, since there were a lot less people, i readied the Lovers in Paris DVD I brought with me. When I saw him upclose, I was just stunned!! He was that handsome. I forgot about the camera I brought with me. When he was right in front of me, I asked if he could please sign the DVD. His hawi boy acted like I had a big spotlight trained on his master and started waving his big arms across my face. Anyway, the actor just smiled and bowed (I assumed he was apologizing that he couldn't stop). I wasn't too disappointed since Marie already warned me but still it was annoying. I was about to curse him in Korean but it was a good thing I didn't.

To some I may sound bitter. I don't deny it. It was very annoying. But after 2 nice encounters with Korean celebrities, I expected he would be like em.

Now I understood what Eun Ji meant. Apparently, most Korean celebrities distanced themselves from their fans. I was just lucky that Lee Jae Jin & Mina were not like that at all. I'm just wishing Shinhwa would be as nice as they seem to be. As for Lee Dong Gun, he's lucky. If he weren't so darned good looking, with his crappy attitude & entourage, he wouldn't have that many fans. And unfortunately, as much as I hate to admit it, I still think he's cute.
